Saigon to Phnom Penh with L'Amant Cruise 5 Days

Day 1: Saigon - My Tho - Ben Tre - Cai Be (D)

Meeting point is at 10: 30 at the lobby of the Caravelle Hotel. Then, drive through to My Tho - the gateway to the Mekong Delta. On arrival, embark on board L'Amant and enjoy a lunch and get acquainted with the crew.

After lunch, board a river-boat to explore the hidden treasures of the Xep canal and islands with tropical fruit gardens. An exciting ride on a carriage drawn by small horses awaits you for a stroll through the fascinating farming villages. Enjoy the tasty fruits and tea with natural honey.

Then continue your journey on a sampan boat through small canals.

Welcome dinner and overnight on board of L'Amant.

Day 2: Cai Be - Vinh Long - Sa Dec (B, L, D)

After breakfast, board a local sampan boat and sail through the canals to explore Cai Be's vibrant floating market, visit a charming ancient colonial house and handicraft workshop. Return on board of L'Amant for lunch. In the early afternoon, take a small boat for a journey towards An Binh islands, continue the tour by bicycle to visit Tien Chau ancient pagoda, some tropical fruit orchard gardens and witness the everyday life of the Mekong Delta. Continue to visit a traditional house and enjoy some mouth-watering tropical fruits. Anchorage near Sa Dec. Dinner and overnight on board

Day 3: Sa Dec - Chau Doc (B, L, D)

After breakfast, tour Sa Dec, the town where the French Writer, Marguerite Duras spent her childhood. Famous for its flowers and bonsai plants, stop at the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, the "house of the Chinese" described in Marguerite Duras'novel, L'Amant. Pass-by the school where Margerite's mother has taught and be charmed by the pleasant greetings of the school children. Return on board of L'Amant for lunch. Sail to Chau Doc. During the afternoon you can enjoy a cooking class or just relax on the sun deck. Anchorage on the way to Chau Doc. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 4: Chau Doc (B, L, D)

In the morning, you will reach the city of Chau Doc, the border city with Cambodia. Visit a floating fishing farm where thousands of fishes are breed for export and visit a mosque in a Cham village. In the afternoon, visit Sam Mountain, a popular pilgrimage site where you will find a large number of Chinese, Cham and Khmer temples. Farewell dinner and overnight on board.

Day 5: Chau Doc - Phnom Penh (B)

fter breakfast, disembark and depart to the Cambodian border by speed boat, go through the customs formalities and continue your cruise to Phnom Penh arriving by early afternoon

Your Daily Schedule
When moored you are welcome to come and go from the ship as much as you like. Group shore excursions are organized by the ship crew and you will be accompanied by a guide. All guides services are provided in English. Please contact us for guides in other languages.
 
Every effort will be made to ensure that the published itinerary is followed as closely as possible. However, considering uncertain water level, weather conditions and other local constraints, all schedules and itineraries may be subject to alterations and delays at short notice. Guests are requested to remain patient and flexible as the river and sea conditions may modify the journey.
 
All passengers have the choice to either join a group excursion ashore or stay aboard and enjoy the relaxing fresh air of the open lounge or the comfort of the air-conditioned areas.
 
Our Smoking policy
For your safety and comfort, we are operating a strictly non-smoking policy indoors. Smoking is allowed for the outside areas only such as the Sundeck and your cabin balcony.
 
The Emergency Procedures
The ship is fitted with modern smoke detectors and fire alarms, extinguishers and water hose. Lifesaving equipments are all IMO/SOLAS certified. Safety instructions are located in every cabin and public access. Life Jackets are kept in your wardrobe and also in the main public areas. In the event of an emergency, each passenger is requested to proceed at once to the muster stations indicated with signs to await instructions. There will be an Emergency Drill during your voyage.
 
On Board Bills
Except for organized evening cocktails and other events, you will be asked to sign a bill for all items ordered at the sundeck bar. A statement of account in US$ will be presented on the last day aboard for settlement.
 
Meals on Board
We serve breakfast and lunch buffets. Dinner is served at the tables with à la carte menu. We offer a blend of flavored Asian recipes and refined Western cuisine accompanied by a rich wine list. Season fruits, fresh vegetables and vegetarian dishes are always available. Special diets may be catered with advance notification and agreement.
 
Tea, coffee and Mineral water
Complimentary tea and coffee are available at any time on the Sun Deck or in your cabin. Bottled water is provided in all cabins daily. Purified water is used for cooking and food preparation on board as well as for ice cubes.
 
Your Cabin
Your sunlit cabin with private balcony will ensure a panoramic view on the amazing sceneries the region offers.
  • Air Conditioning: Your cabin is equipped with its own centralized air-conditioning unit which can be adjusted for your comfort. Note that the sea breeze is worth trying at night! For energy conservation, please do not leave your air-conditioner on while windows are opened.
  • Water, towels and electrical appliances: The ship's water supply comes from ashore facilities or is produced from seawater during the seashore expedition. This water is treated to be suitable for washing and brushing teeth but is not potable. Bottled mineral water is provided for drinking, free of charge. To save water, towels will only be changed if they are placed off the towel rack. The ship is equipped with 220 volts, with European and American standard sockets. Other types of electrical adaptors are available upon request. Hairdryers are installed in all cabins.
  • Blankets: Blankets are kept in the closet under your bed. These may be needed in the cool season when night time temperatures drop.
  • Laundry: A laundry bag is provided for your laundry needs and the laundry list is to be found on the desk. Your laundry is collected each morning when your room is made up and will be returned to you the following day. Please leave your items in the bag provided and fill up the laundry list.
  • Security and mini safe box: When in port, a 24-hour security watch is on duty on the vessel gangplank and only passengers and authorized crew are allowed to board. Keep your cabin door locked when you are out and leave the key at the lobby reception when going ashore. All cabins have a combination type safe box. However, the company cannot be held liable for loss of money, jewelry or other valuable items from the ship or whilst on an excursion.
  • Intercom: An Intercom system is installed in your cabin. On board calls can be made from your cabin to other cabin or to the ship's on board services. Wake-up call can be requested at any time. Please advise the Purser the night before

A colonial style

L’Amant combines traditional boat-building with modern comfort and can accommodate up to 24 passengers in its 12 cabins to cruise the Mekong in luxury. Measuring 39 m long by 7 m wide, L'Amant cruiser was built in a colonial style. The vessel offers a large restaurant, a bar and a sundeck where passengers will be captivated by the serenity and the beauty of nature throughout the journey.

Luxury cabins

The boat features 12 double cabins of 16 m² each, equipped and decorated in a delicate style. All the cabins are fitted with a wardrobe, a centralised individually controlled air-conditioning, a private balcony, a large glass sliding door dressed with curtains, a bathroom with toilets, shower and hair-dryer.
All equiped with 220V sockets.

Restaurant and Bar

The restaurant offers buffets and à la carte gourmet menus in an elegant atmosphere. The wine list will please the amateurs and delight the connoisseurs with its outstanding selections of grand cru. excursions and services on board.
